That is until someone labels your opinions as “hate speech”, and thus your voice is silenced. For instance, could you label my disdain for “hate crimes” as hate speech? I simply believe in believe in same crime — same punishment, and see no need to inject thought crimes into the situation. Some people might say this is a form of hate speech, and then seek to silence me.

Censorship becomes a slippery slope very quickly. I am afraid of idiots being influenced and rabble roused by other idiots, leading to idiotic thoughts and actions, but I do not believe in the thought police, thus I do not believe in censorship. If I read offensive or bigoted etc. things, I scoff and go elsewhere. Maybe many others cannot have the sense to do the same, but who shall we leave it to to determine what we will be exposed to? The Scientologists, Christians, Muslims, Chinese, Republicans, Billionaires, Flying Spaghetti Monsters, Feminists………..who, maybe you?
